This #ThrowbackThursday, we take a look back to 2016, when the actress raised her voice against the then-Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump and openly criticized his comments on banning Muslim immigrants.
“I just think you can’t put a ban on anyone. Generalizing a type of people is really primitive,” she said in a quote as reported by PTI.
The following year, the actress also voiced her concerns about President Trump’s sweeping refugee ban and shared her views on the importance of raising one’s voice. The Unicef ambassador said in a blog post as reported by ANI, “All of the ‘banned’ countries are places where a lot of Unicef work is going on, where children are suffering the most. What can I add that people across professions and age groups have not already said? But adding your voice will definitely make a difference. And make a difference we must. Please join me in making our voice stronger so that globally, our children are not discriminated against on the basis of their religion and do not have to bear the brunt of a political witch hunt.”
Over the past years, the actress, philanthropist and goodwill ambassador has lent her support to various children’s causes around the globe.
On the work front, the actress is gearing up to begin work on her next that is said to be an American television series.
